Angry Driver Intentionally Mowed Down Employees Outside Long Island School, DA Says
An accused hit-and-run driver who struck two employees outside a Long Island school, injuring them, intentionally targeted the pair, prosecutors allege.
Josef McLorrain, age 22, of Brooklyn, was indicted on attempted murder and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Wednesday, Aug. 7.
Prosecutors said McLorrain was driving a Mazda SUV in the parking lot of Eastern Suffolk BOCES’ Bellport Academic Center, located on Martha Avenue, on the morning of Monday, June 24.

Two men are accused of stealing a diamond watch worth more than a quarter-million dollars from a Long Island jeweler.
The theft occurred in Greenvale, at the Loucri Jewelers located on Northern Boulevard, at around 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 17.
Nassau County Police said two men entered the store and one distracted the salesperson while the other concealed a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak custom diamond watch. The watch is valued at $275,325.

A New York resident was one of two CEOs convicted in federal court of a $1 billion fraud scheme involving thousands of investors.
Long Island resident David Gentile, age 57, of Manhasset, and Jeffry Schneider, age 55, of Austin, Texas, were found guilty in federal court on all counts of an indictment charging them with conspiracy to commit securities fraud, conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and securities fraud.
Gentile, the owner and CEO of GPB Capital Holdings, was also convicted on two counts of wire fraud.
The verdict came after an eight-week trial.

Condolences are pouring in for the family behind a group of popular Italian restaurants on Long Island mourning the loss of its beloved matriarch.
Michelina Lombardi, affectionately known as “Mamma Lombardi” and the namesake of the Holbrook eatery on Furrows Road, died at the age of 92 on Thursday, July 25, according to her obituary.
