Retired Cop Charged With Murder After Shooting Roommate In NY, Police Say (Update) Authorities have identified the retired Hudson Valley police officer charged with murder after allegedly shooting his roommate on Monday, July 21. Edison Irizarry, age 52, of Beacon, called 911 and told dispatchers that he had shot his roommate at a home on Rombout Avenue in Beacon just after 9 p.m., New York State Police said in an update on Tuesday afternoon, July 22.
