Cocaine-Fentanyl Trafficking Operation Busted In Capital Region
A major cocaine and fentanyl operation of 21 individuals who were charged with 222 crimes was busted following a year-long investigation in the Capital Region. New York Attorney General Letitia James said the "takedown" occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 1, in New York City and Rensselaer, Albany, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties. According to James, the operation was responsible for selling large quantities of powder and crack cocaine, as well as fentanyl and heroin. Woman Beaten To Death At Motel In Capital Region; Man Charged With Murder
A man was charged with murder in connection with the beating death of a woman at a motel in the region. Schenectady Police were called about an unresponsive woman at the Imperial Motel on State Street at around 4:20 a.m. Sunday, July 21. The victim, 49-year-old Renee Stratton, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy determined she had suffered blunt force trauma, and her death was ruled a homicide. One person was killed during a two-and-a-half hour span when at least five tornadoes touched down in New York State this week, the National Weather Service announced following a survey of the damage, and more confirmations could be coming. A man from the region who admitted he traveled to meet an 11-year-old to have sex and possession of child pornography has been sentenced to prison. Dutchess County resident Aaron W. Scott, age 28, of Poughkeepsie, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to the US Attorney for the Northern District of New York. Police are asking for help in locating a man from the region who was reported missing. Saratoga County resident Robert Crofut left his Moreau home at around 10 a.m. Friday, July 5, according to sheriff’s officials. He was driving a white 2011 Dodge Dakota pickup truck with New York license plate number 18186JE. Crofut, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, is 5-foot-7 and 120 pounds, and is bald with blue eyes. A young explorer has some dedicated search and rescue crews to thank for pulling him to safety after he became trapped inside a popular cave in the region. The Albany County incident happened Sunday afternoon, June 30, in the town of New Scotland at the Clarksville Cave. Couple Leaves Infant On Beach While Boating At Lake George, Police Say
Two parents are accused of leaving their infant child alone while they went boating on a popular beach in New York frequented by residents throughout the state and elsewhere. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon, June 18, on the western shore of Lake George, near Lake Shore Drive. A half dozen school districts in the region will receive over $12 million in federal funding to pay for electric school buses.
