Traffic Alert: Crash Causes Hours-Long I-87 Closure In Region
A fuel tank rollover crash has caused heavy delays on a busy stretch of the New York State Thruway. State Police said the crash has all I-87 southbound lanes closed from Exit 21 in Catskill to Ulster County in Saugerties Exit 20 for at least the next six hours. State police said the crash occurred in Ulster County around 3:50 a.m. Monday, Oct. 28, near mile marker 105. No one was injured, but an unknown quantity of diesel fuel spilled and is in the process of being cleaned up. The southbound lanes will be closed most of the morning until the cleanup is complete, state police said. …

Popular Motorcycle Couple Seriously Injured In DUI Crash In Region
Support is on the rise for a motorcyclist couple from Canada left with serious injuries after being struck by a DUI driver in Greene County, NY. As previously reported by Daily Voice, Craig "Hammer" Sutherland and Charity Hogan, were struck by Derik Wirhouski, 50, who police had said blew a stop sign on Route 23 in Catskill on Tuesday, Sept. 10. He was later charged with DWI and issued multiple traffic citations. Crash Update: 1 Critical, 1 Stable Following 2-Vehicle Drunk Driving Accident In Region
Two victims of an alleged drunk driving crash who were severely wounded remain in the hospital. The collision occurred in Greene County on Route 23 in Catskill at about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10. According to Greene County Sheriff's Office Capt. Joel Rowell, responding deputies immediately began life-saving measures on the two seriously injured victims who were ejected from a motorcycle. Wendy’s is gearing up to open a new restaurant in the region. The Ohio-based fast-food chain has its sights set on Greene County, where it will debut a new location in the village of Catskill, according to Village of Catskill Planning Board records. Plans call for the new restaurant to take over the former Pizza Hut building, located at 75 Maple Avenue. It was not immediately clear when the new Catskill location will open. A beloved musician was killed in a crash and subsequent car fire in the region as good Samaritans desperately tried to save him. The Greene County incident happened at around 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, on State Route 9W in Catskill. New York State Police said Thomas Konow, age 61, of Claverack in Columbia County, was driving a GMC SUV southbound on SR 9W when the vehicle left the roadway, struck the wall of a railroad overpass, and caught fire. Two paramedics in upstate New York who were seen on a viral video mistreating and berating a developmentally disabled patient have resigned. The Greene County incident happened Friday evening, May 17, in the Village of Catskill.
