A Yaphank woman has been indicted on manslaughter and drunk driving charges for a crash that killed 75-year-old Esther Guy of Coram, who was riding with her daughter and grandson, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Melissa Koprowski, 31, is accused of driving drunk and causing a fatal crash on Middle Country Road in Middle Island on Nov. 22, 2024, at 8:39 p.m., prosecutors said.

Suffolk Woman Drove Drunk In Crash Killing Mom Riding In SUV With Daughter, Grandchild: Police
A Long Island woman was driving under the influence when she caused a crash that killed a 75-year-old mother, according to authorities.
Suffolk County Police said the collision occurred on Friday, Nov. 22, at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Middle Country Road near Wading River Hollow Road in Middle Island.
Investigators determined that Melissa Koprowski, age 31, of Yaphank, was driving a 2014 Dodge Durango eastbound when she attempted to turn left onto Wading River Hollow Road. Koprowski’s vehicle struck a westbound 2022 Nissan Rogue, police said.
