New Pizzeria In Capital Region Wins Praise From 'Crust Snob'
A new pizzeria in the region is quickly gaining favor among local foodies.
Spindle City Pizza, located in Albany County at 84 Ontario Street in Cohoes, opened in October 2022.
Its menu boasts several varieties of pizza, pasta, and wings, as well as starters like chicken wontons and garlic bites.
More adventurous diners can choose from various specialty pies, like the Sweet & Spicy, made with sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onions, and hot honey.

After a half century of serving up award-winning pizza and wings in a “tremendous atmosphere,” a popular Capital Region pub is closing its doors.
The Purple Pub, located in Albany County at 2 Cohoes Road in Watervliet, will close for good on Friday, Dec. 30, owners Greg and Butch Rentz announced on Facebook.
“As the old saying goes ‘all good things must come to an end’ and after 50 long, successful, and beautiful years, that end is now here,” reads the post.

South Korea’s largest fried chicken chain is expanding in the Capital District.
Saratoga County eatery BB.Q Chicken opened in Clifton Park in August 2022, nearly two years after first welcoming diners in Albany.
Serving up bone-in chicken pieces, boneless nuggets, or wing-only orders, its menu features a variety of flavors, including honey-garlic, soy-garlic, and one made with cheddar cheese.
For heat lovers, there's an option that’s appropriately named the “Hot Spicy,” made with a red chili sauce that gives “serious heat and serious flavor.”
