5 Nabbed On Gun Charges During Traffic Stop In Region, Police Say
Five residents in the region, including three juveniles, were nabbed on alleged gun charges during a routine traffic stop.
The incident occurred in Orange County around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, on I-84 in Deerpark.
According to New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Orange County resident Jaykris Vargas, age 23, of Middletown.
While interviewing Vargas, troopers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. While searching the car, they located a loaded semi-automatic handgun, Nevel said.

Fentanyl, Heroin, Cocaine Found During Traffic Stop In Capital Region, Police Say
A 31-year-old man is facing multiple drug charges following an alleged bust during a traffic stop in the region, authorities said.
Greene County resident Anthony Alford, of Catskill, was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 31, after troopers stopped a pickup truck he was riding in on Water Street in Catskill, according to State Police.
While speaking to both Alford and the truck’s driver, troopers learned that Alford was in possession of a “large amount” of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine, police said.
He was arrested without incident on the following charges, all felonies:

Unlicensed Duo Busted With Drugs During Traffic Stop In Capital Region, Police Say
A 46-year-old man is facing numerous drug charges following an early-morning traffic stop in the region, authorities said.
Troopers in Greene County stopped a Nissan Rogue at around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Jan 22, as it drove eastbound on Route 2B in the village of Catskill, according to State Police.
During the stop, troopers learned that the driver only had a learner’s permit and the passenger, Alonzo Lowe, of Albany, had a suspended driver’s license. Police ended up towing the vehicle.

Traffic Stop Leads To Felony Drug Charges For Capital District Man
A traffic stop in the Capital District ended with a man jailed on felony drug charges, authorities said.
State Police in Saratoga County stopped William Boyd, age 38, of Niskayuna, at around 9:40 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, on I-87 in the town of Moreau.
Troopers had initially stopped Boyd for violating vehicle and traffic laws, police said.
During their interaction, however, troopers determined that he was in possession of a large quantity of cocaine, according to police.
Boyd was arrested on felony charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
