Road Rage: Saratoga County Man Displays Weapon During Incident In Capital Regio
A Capital Region man was nabbed for road rage after allegedly displaying a weapon to another driver. Saratoga County resident Justin R. Maetzel, age 24, of Ballston Spa, was charged on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at his home for the incident on Route 7 in Albany County near Colonie. According to New York State Police Trooper Stephanie O'Neil, an investigation determined on Route 7 near the I-87 interchange in Colonie, Matzel allegedly displayed what appeared to be a handgun inside his vehicle during a road rage dispute. Authorities have identified a man who died in police custody following an arrest in the region. The Rensselaer County incident happened just before noon Friday, Oct. 13, in Troy’s Lansingburgh neighborhood. According to Troy Police, officers responded to a home after a resident called 911 reporting a trespasser. When they arrived, they saw 48-year-old Woody Smith, of Troy, crawling out of a first-floor window, police said. Three New York police officers are off the hook for criminal charges in the death of a man who caught fire after being hit with a stun gun. The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) found that a prosecutor would not be able to prove that the three officers, all members of the Catskill Police Department in Greene County, committed a crime in the October 2021 death of Jason Jones. Mother, Son Accused Of Assaulting Multiple People At Parking Lot In Capital District
A 37-year-old woman and her teenage son are facing charges after allegedly assaulting several people at a parking lot in the region. The incident happened Sunday, Aug. 21, in Albany County at the Altamont Fairgrounds. State police were called just after 8 p.m. on the last day of the fair with reports of a physical altercation in the parking lot. Officers determined that Angelique Anaya, of Schenectady, and her 19-year-old son, Sacario Anaya, of Rotterdam, had exited a vehicle and assaulted multiple people during an altercation. Authorities have identified a 34-year-old woman who police said was killed in an officer-involved shooting in the Hudson Valley after attempting to stab officers.
