Mercedes Theft Leads To Arrest Of Man For DWI/Drugs In Region, Police Say
A Hudson Valley man nabbed for the alleged theft of a 2005 gold Mercedes from a Budget 19 Motel led to his arrest for a host of charges, including alleged DWI/Drugs.
The incident occurred in Ulster County around 8 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Budget 19 Motel on Route 28 in Kingston.
According to State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, in a preliminary investigation, the stolen car was involved in a collision with a 2021 Ford. Man Who Traveled Across NY To Kill Ex-Wife's Partner Apprehended In Capital Region, Police Say
A man was apprehended in the region after authorities say he traveled hundreds of miles across New York to murder his ex-wife's partner.
State Police troopers responded to a Columbia County 911 broadcast about the suspect on Tuesday, Sept. 17.
The suspect, Andrew J. Case, age 41, of West Seneca, in Erie County, was located and arrested on Route 9 in the Columbia County town of Greenport, according to police.
An investigation determined he was en route to Westchester County with three shotguns, police said.

Wrong-Way Driver Intentionally Strikes Cop Car During Capital Region Pursuit, Police Say
A 36-year-old man is facing charges following a wrong-way highway pursuit in the region in which he intentionally struck a cop car, authorities allege.
Daniel Hammon, of Albany, was arrested on a warrant Thursday, Oct. 19, in connection with the July 2023 incident on I-90 in Rensselaer County.
An Albany County Sheriff’s deputy was chasing Hammon on I-90 in East Greenbush on July 25, 2023, when a State Police trooper began assisting in the pursuit.
During the chase, Hammon drove the wrong way on I-90 and intentionally drove into a marked police car, according to State Police.

Saratoga County resident Dakota Smith, age 28, of Malta, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 13, on fraud and larceny charges, according to State Police.
Troopers determined that Smith, who owns DAS Builders & Remodeling LLC, entered into an agreement with the Clifton Park homeowner for a renovation project.
The homeowner contacted police in June 2023 saying they gave Smith a deposit of over $18,000 but he never started the work or purchased the needed materials.

Kyle Hutchinson, age 23, of Schenectady, was found guilty of second-degree murder and related charges in Rensselaer County Court on Wednesday, Aug. 30, in the killing of 19-year-old Nathanial Miller.

A 34-year-old man is facing drug charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and leading troopers on a high-speed highway chase in the region.
The incident happened at around 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, in Saratoga County, on I-87 in the town of Wilton, according to State Police.
After initially pulling over, Michael Casseus, of Troy, reportedly failed to comply with troopers’ commands and fled the scene, leading to a pursuit.

Man Nabbed Stealing $225K In Goods From Storage Container In Hudson Valley, Police Say
An area 71-year-old has been charged with grand larceny after allegedly stealing more than $225,299 in property from a storage container.
Ulster County resident Anthony Diguiseppe, of Accord, a hamlet of the town of Rochester, was arrested on Sunday, March 19.
On Friday, March 3, State Police began an investigation of stolen property that exceeded $225,229, said Trooper Steve Nevel.
The Investigation revealed that Diguiseppe removed items from a storage container that did not belong to him and moved them to another location, Nevel added.

More than 50 school districts across New York reported receiving swatting threats of an active shooter.
The districts reporting the incidents on Tuesday, April 4 were located on Long Island, in Central New York, the Southern Tier, and the North Country, authorities said.

A therapist in the region is facing charges for allegedly practicing without a license.
Columbia County resident William Culley, age 57, of Chatham, was arrested Saturday, March 18, according to State Police.
After being tipped off, investigators determined that Culley was practicing as a psychotherapist without a license, police said.
He specializes in treating those recovering from a traumatic brain injury, as well as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and other behavioral issues, according to his profile on Psychology Today.
