A return of more humid air will fuel a new round of thunderstorms after a days-long stretch of dry, comfortable weather.The timing for the storm system is from late in the afternoon into the evening on Monday, Aug. 26. A massive system stretching from the Midwest to the East will bring separate rounds of severe thunderstorms to the region amid high heat and humidity. According to the National Weather Service, the primary threats are locally damaging wind gusts that can down trees and power lines, along with heavy rainfall. Millions in the United States are under air quality alerts as Canadian wildfire smoke once again spreads in parts of the Northeast and Midwest. An Air Quality Health Advisory has been issued for Monday, July 17 for all regions of New York. (See the image above.)
