Tributes are pouring in for a beloved NYPD officer who was killed alongside three others in an alleged drunk driving crash at a New York nail salon. Emilia Rennhack was off duty and getting her nails done when an SUV came barreling through the front window of Long Island’s Hawaii Nail & Spa, located in Deer Park on Commack Road, on Friday afternoon, June 28. Rennhack was pronounced dead at the scene alongside the salon’s owner, Jiancai Chen, age 37, of Bayside, Queens, according to Suffolk County Police. The identities have been released of four people killed, including a police officer, and nine injured after an allegedly drunk driver crashed an SUV into a shop at a New York strip mall. The incident happened on Long Island around 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, in the hamlet of Deer Park. Rite Aid has announced new store closures after the struggling pharmacy chain filed for bankruptcy in the fourth quarter of 2023. Shortly after declaring bankruptcy, Rite Aid announced 154 store closures, with 20 in New York, and 14 on Long Island. Two men are facing charges after a traffic stop in the Capital District led to the discovery of about 400 pounds of cannabis. Troopers in Saratoga County stopped a vehicle traveling on I-87 in Wilton at about 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, New York State Police reported. A 24-year-old man has died after apparently drowning in a lake in the region. Emergency crews in Columbia County were called Saturday, Aug. 13, with reports of a swimmer in distress at Lake Taghkanic State Park. Witnesses told authorities a man had jumped from a boat and did not resurface, according to New York State Police.
