Hochul Declares State Of Emergency For All Of NY, Sends Water Rescue Teams
As the remnants of Tropical Storm Debby slam much of New York with flooding, dangerous winds, and threaten to bring tornadoes, Gov. Kathy Hochul has declared a state of emergency and mobilized rescue teams. The declaration came on Friday, Aug. 9 after Debby's remnants arrived in New York, bringing severe flooding and gusty winds to much of the state as it moves northeast. A line of storms is now moving across the region from west to east, producing drenching downpours that are flooding some areas. A potent, late autumn storm that pounded the region has turned deadly after a woman was killed by floodwaters. Emergency crews in Greene County were called at around 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, for a vehicle submerged in floodwater in Catskill, near Cauterskill Road.
