Small Plane Lands On NY State Thruway In Albany, Police Say (Update) A small twin-engine plane experiencing mechanical problems landed on the New York State Thruway in the Capital Region Friday, Dec. 20, New York State Police said. The incident occurred after 12 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, just south of Exit 23 of the Thruway in Albany.  First responders can be seen on the scene. New York State Police reported on X that two lanes are closed, and one is open. Emergency crews were called at around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, after the single-engine Cherokee Archer landed on the eastbound right shoulder of the Southern State Parkway near exit 33 in Babylon. Two people who were onboard the aircraft were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to New York State Police. A good Samaritan in Greene County called 911 shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday, July 28, with reports of a small plane down in the Hudson in Catskill, not far from the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. When troopers arrived they found a seaplane in the water and reported at least one occupant out and in the water, New York State Police said.
