3 Firefighters Injured Battling Blaze On Long Island Police are investigating the cause of a Long Island fire that injured multiple firefighters. It happened on the evening of Monday, June 3 in Hicksville, according to Nassau County Police. At approximately 7 p.m., a fire broke out at Omega Auto Body, located at 16 Jerusalem Avenue. When officers and the Hicksville Fire Department arrived at the scene to battle the blaze, flames were pouring out of the building. Just after 11:33 p.m., Nassau County Police said that a man walked into the 7-Eleven located at 254 Elmont Road, lit a single firework, and threw it into the store’s middle aisle.
