Gunfire erupted at the corner of West Graham Avenue and Peninsula Boulevard just after noon on Saturday, March 1, leaving a man bleeding out on the pavement, authorities said.
When Hempstead police arrived at 12:22 p.m., they found the victim unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, according to detectives. Officers fought to keep him alive before rushing him to a nearby hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead by a physician.
The shooter remains on the loose as Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives scramble for leads.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or dial 911. All calls are anonymous.
