Cargo Truck Hits, Kills 44-Year-Old Man On Long Island A man died after being struck by a vehicle on Long Island. The incident happened in Baldwin, on Coes Neck Road, at around 6:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18. Nassau County Police said a cargo truck was driving near the intersection of Notre Dame Court when it swerved to avoid a car backing into the roadway and struck a 44-year-old man walking on the shoulder. The victim suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead by a Nassau County Police medic, according to police. His identity had not been publicized as of Friday evening. The incident happened at around 3:20 a.m. Monday, May 20, in Ronkonkoma near the intersection of Ronkonkoma Avenue and Third Street. Suffolk County Police said Elyse Crivaro, of Holbrook, was walking across Ronkonkoma Avenue when she was struck by a southbound car. The vehicle, described as a dark colored sedan, fled the scene.
