Hit-Run Driver Sought After 19-Year-Old Critically Injured On Sunrise Highway A month after a 19-year-old man was seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver on a Long Island highway, the suspect is still at large. The incident happened on Sunrise Highway in Freeport at around 11:15 p.m. Sept. 14. Nassau County Police said the victim was crossing Sunrise Highway near the intersection of Bayview Avenue when a dark colored SUV traveling northbound struck him. The vehicle then fled the scene heading westbound on Sunrise Highway. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition. No other details were given. The incident happened in Commack, at a residence on Daisy Lane, at around 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13. Surveillance video shared by Suffolk County Police shows a man wearing a surgical mask carrying a postal envelope and zip ties approach the home and ring the doorbell.
