Driver Escapes After Car Plunges Into Pond In Somers Amid Heavy Rain A driver had to escape after their vehicle became submerged in a pond in Westchester, prompting a multi-agency emergency response, fire officials said. The incident happened on Wednesday, March 5, a little before 7 p.m., when a driver crashed into Mill Pond in Somers and was reported to be trapped in the car amid a rainstorm, the Somers Volunteer Fire Department said.  By the time first responders arrived, the driver had managed to get themselves out of the vehicle. Search Resumes For 2 Swimmers Missing In Candlewood Lake An extensive search and rescue mission will resume early on Tuesday, July 16, for two men who jumped from a boat in a Fairfield County lake and never resurfaced. The incident occurred in Danbury at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, July 16, at Candlewood Lake in the area of City Island. According to Erin Henry, spokesperson for the Danbury Fire Department, it was reported that two men had jumped off a boat into the lake and disappeared.
