Apple TV+ has just renewed Ted Lasso for a fourth season.

Jason Sudeikis, who stars as Lasso, broke the news on Friday, March 14 in an interview on the New Heights podcast hosted by Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.

“We’re writing Season 4 now," said Sudeikis, who also is executive producer. "That’s the official word."

The series follows Lasso, an American college football coach, who is unexpectedly recruited to coach a fictitious English Premier League men's soccer team, AFC Richmond, despite having no experience coaching the sport.

Sudeikis revealed on the podcast that Lasso will be coaching a women's team in Season 4.

Leading members of the ensemble cast, including Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins), will all be back. Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) is in negotiations to return, according to a report in Deadline.

Ted Lasso was released on Apple TV+ during the COVID-19 pandemic in August 2020 after being developed based on characters from NBC Sports promos.

Season 3 ended with Lasso resigning as FC Richmond, succeeded by Roy Kent, coach and returning to home to the US.

Production for Season 4 is scheduled to start this summer.
