Trapped Driver Rescued After Crashing Into Swamp In Region A driver was flown to a hospital after crashing into a swamp in the Hudson Valley.  The crash happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Sept. 18 around 8:15 p.m., when a vehicle left the roadway at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 312 in Brewster and crashed down a 20-foot embankment into a swamp, according to the Brewster Fire Department.  Arriving first responders soon discovered that the driver was trapped inside their vehicle and began stabilizing the car to help them out. Driver Injured In 2-Car Crash In Front Of Historic Manor In Region A two-car crash in front of a historic Northern Westchester manor-turned-museum caused injuries, firefighters said.  The incident happened in Croton-on-Hudson on Saturday, Sept. 7 at around 7:20 p.m., when two vehicles collided in front of Van Cortlandt Manor on South Riverside Avenue, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department.  Arriving fire crews dealt with a fluid spill from one of the cars while EMS treated a driver injured in the crash.  Both vehicles were later towed away, the department said. The cause of the crash was not released.

Residents Evaluated After Bathroom Blaze Fills Hudson Valley Home With Smoke Residents were evaluated for smoke exposure following a bathroom fire in their Hudson Valley home.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, July 31 just before 6 a.m., when an oil burner malfunction was reported at a Mahopac home on Mountain View Drive.  According to the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department, arriving crews found smoke filling the residence and soon determined an oil burner did not cause the blaze but began in a bathroom wastebasket.  The blaze had already gone out by the time crews arrived and damaged the bathroom tile wall, the department added.
