A Hudson Valley man will spend up to seven years in prison after admitting to driving drunk and causing a crash that killed an 11-year-old girl in a tragic head-on collision, prosecutors announced. Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that Yeraldo Roa, age 36, of Port Jervis, was sentenced to two and one-third to seven years in prison on Friday, Dec. 20, following his guilty plea to vehicular manslaughter. Yippee! A lucky Hudson Valley Powerball player has $50,000 to spend for Christmas after winning the third-place prize for the Wednesday, Dec. 18 game. New York Lottery officials said the ticket was sold at the Quick Chek store on Route 9W in Newburgh in Orange County. The winning numbers were 06-15-18-33-49 with a Powerball of 7. The unidentified player had to select four correct numbers and the Powerball to win the third prize. No word yet on who the winner is. A five-car crash in Orange County on I-84 westbound has sent five people to the hospital with minor injuries. According to the New York State Police, the crash occurred in Montgomery around 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17. State police said an investigation determined that Judith Lorveus-Feqyuere, 46, of Monroe, was driving westbound when she stopped in the passing lane for no apparent reason. A Hudson Valley man received a 25-year prison sentence, the most severe penalty under the law after a jury found him guilty of forcibly raping an individual. Police ID Man Killed In Late-Night Minivan Crash In Orange County
A Brooklyn man was killed late Tuesday night, Dec. 10 when his van veered off the road and struck an embankment in Monroe, authorities said. Ulugbek Yunussov, 62, was behind the wheel of a 2012 Chrysler van that left the roadway and struck an embankment on Larkin Drive around 11 p.m., NY State Police said. Yunussov was extricated from the vehicle as EMS began lifesaving measures. Officer Killed In Fiery Single-Car Crash In Region: State Police
An off-duty New York City Police officer was killed on his way home from work on the Palisades Parkway in Orange County, NY early Friday, Dec. 6, authorities said. The 45-year-old New Windsor, NY man was heading north in a 2019 Subaru when he left the roadway and struck a tree in the median, just north of Exit 19 in Highlands around 6 a.m., New York State Police said in a news release.
