Fire Destroys Elmont Senior Center: Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad A fire destroyed an abandoned senior center on Foster Meadow Lane in Elmont early Saturday, Dec. 14, police announced. Officers and firefighters responded to a blaze at 1888 Foster Meadow Lane at 12:01 a.m., according to the Nassau County Arson Bomb Squad. The structure was fully engulfed when firefighters from Elmont and multiple surrounding departments arrived, investigators said. The Nassau County Fire Marshal and the Arson Bomb Squad were called to the scene as crews worked to extinguish the flames. Drunk 21-Year-Old Crashes Into Vacant Business In Nassau County, Police Say A 21-year-old man was hospitalized following a suspected drunk-driving crash into a vacant business on Long Island. The early-morning incident happened in Westbury, on Old Country Road near Carman Avenue, at around 2:40 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. Nassau County Police said Aidan Schwartz, of Wantagh, was driving a Honda sedan when he crashed into a vacant building at 1137 Old Country Road.
