Popular Taco Chain Opening Fourth Restaurant On Long Island
A popular Italian taquería is opening a new restaurant on Long Island.
Tony’s Tacos signed a long-term lease at Holbrook’s The Shops at SunVet on Sunrise Highway, according to Breslin Realty. An opening date was not given.
The restaurant chain boasts just about every type of taco one could crave, including several varieties of chicken, shrimp, pork, fish, and veggie tacos.

34-Year-Old Dies From Injuries Month After Nassau County Crash
A man critically injured in a fiery crash on Long Island has died from his injuries, authorities announced Monday morning, Nov. 11.
Richard Sorrentino, age 34, of Queens, was pronounced dead by hospital staff on Friday, Nov. 8, Nassau County Police said.
The crash happened on Saturday, Oct. 12, around 6:55 p.m. in Bellmore.
Sorrentino was riding a black motorcycle westbound on Sunrise Highway near Rose Place when he struck a bicyclist attempting to cross the roadway.

Woman Killed After Being Struck By Tractor-Trailer On Long Island
Police are investigating after a woman was killed in an overnight Long Island crash.
It happened around 1:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, in North Bellport.
The victim was walking in the right lane of westbound Sunrise Highway (Route 27), east of Exit 55, when she was struck by a 2015 Kenworth tractor-trailer, according to Suffolk County Police.
Maureen Howley, age 77, of Bellport, was transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.

'Mistaken Identity' Led To Father's Killing In Backyard Of Long Island Home, DA Says
A case of mistaken identity led to a husband and father being gunned down in the backyard of his Long Island home, prosecutors said.
Oliver Schor, age 22, and Christopher Fernandez, age 28, both of Sound Beach, were formally arraigned on murder charges in Suffolk County Court on Friday, Aug. 9, in the fatal shooting of Michael Hartmann.
According to prosecutors, Fernandez and Schor were armed with rifles when they showed up at Hartmann’s Bohemia residence, located just south of the Sunrise Highway on Smithtown Avenue, at around 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 2, 2022.

Full Closures Planned For Portion Of Sunrise Highway
Scheduled highway closures could cause delays for Long Island drivers in the coming days.
In Suffolk County, all westbound lanes of Sunrise Highway (Route 27) are slated to close nightly in the town of Babylon beginning on Monday, July 22.
From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., lanes will close Monday, July 22, Tuesday, July 23, and Wednesday, July 24 between exits 40 and 39. Closures will occur again on Thursday, July 25, and Friday, July 26, between exits 38 and 39.
