Cops ID Pilot, Passenger Killed In I-684 Plane Crash At NY/CT Line
Authorities have released the identities of both the pilot who survived and the passenger who died in a small plane crash that shut down Interstate 684 at the border of Fairfield, CT and Westchester, CT counties for hours. Kalmen Goldberger, 26, of Linden, NJ, had reported engine trouble before the single-engine Tecnam P-2008 went down in the center median of I-684 near Exit 2 in Harrison Thursday, Dec. 12 around 7:15 p.m., officials said. Update: Dead Body Found On I-90 By DOT Workers Identified As Albany County Man
A person found dead on I-90 near the Patroon Island Bridge by state Department of Transportation workers has been identified as a Capital Region man. New York State Police said Lawrence N. Viscio, 58, of Albany, was found by the employees at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3. His cause of death is pending autopsy and further investigation. Troopers closed the right lane of I-90 following the body's discovery in Rensselaer for about 1.5 hours for investigation purposes. The investigation is ongoing. This remains a developing story. 1 Dead, 6 Hurt In Saratoga County Fire: What We Know
An early-morning fire tore through an apartment building in Saratoga County, killing one person and injuring six others Wednesday, Dec. 4, authorities said. The fire broke out around 3:45 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 4, at 54 Broad Street in Waterford, where officers arrived on the scene and assisted with evacuating residents from the second-floor apartments, according to a press release from Public Safety Commissioner Michael J. Beloved Deputy Sheriff In Region Known For His Love Of Dinosaurs Dies
A much beloved deputy sheriff in the region known for being a part-time comedian and his love of dinosaurs has died after a courageous battle with cancer. Nicholas Gasparre, age 36, a lifelong Hudson Valley resident, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Nov. 15, surrounded by his family, friends, and his brothers and sisters of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. He began serving the country as a volunteer firefighter for the Beekman Fire District. According to his obituary, he also served in the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal during the war on terrorism. …

Victim Dies After Stabbing At Park In Region, Hunt On For Person Of Interest
Police are searching for a suspect who is a "person of interest" in a deadly stabbing at a city park in the region. The incident occurred in Dutchess County at 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Pershing Avenue Park in the city of Poughkeepsie. According to Det. Sgt. Sean Fitzgerald of the Poughkeepsie Police, a man in his 50s, was found stabbed and bleeding at the park by responding officers. A man was killed and two others, including a 13-year-old boy, were injured in a late-night shooting in the region. Albany Police were called at around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, for shots fired in the West Hill neighborhood, near Second and Quail streets.
