New Update: Massive Brush Fire In Suffolk County Covers 20 Acres It took almost 10 hours for responders to contain massive brush fire on Long Island is being battled by 18 responding departments. The blaze broke out at about 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, in Riverhead in a wooded area to the east side of 3000 Sound Avenue. It was finally contained at around 10 a.m. Saturday. It happened in East Meadow on Tuesday, June 25, according to Nassau County Police. At approximately 3:40 p.m., police arrived at the home, which was on Arleigh Road, to see the house fully engulfed in flames. It happened on Wednesday, May 29 in Elmont. Just after 11:33 p.m., Nassau County Police said that a man walked into the 7-Eleven located at 254 Elmont Road, lit a single firework, and threw it into the store’s middle aisle. The explosion caused a fire, which the Elmont Fire Department was able to extinguish, and damaged the store shelves and merchandise. Police described the suspect as a Black man with a slight build.
