1 Seriously Injured In Overnight Long Island Crash One person suffered severe injuries in an overnight Long Island crash. It happened around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in Ronkonkoma. A 60-year-old Ronkonkoma man was driving a 2015 Kia sedan southbound on Ocean Avenue when the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street at the intersection of Johnson Avenue. The pedestrian, a 35-year-old man from Daly City, California, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries.  The driver of the Kia was not injured. Fatal House Fire: 62-Year-Old ID'd As Victim In Nesconset A Long Island resident was killed in a house fire. The blaze broke out around 5:25 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in Nesconset. First responders rushed to the scene at Highland Place after a 911 call. Thomas Walz, age 62, a resident of the home, was taken out of the house by responders.  Walz was transported via ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  There were no other people in the house at the time of the fire, and no other injuries were reported.
