Long Island Resident Killed After House Fire Breaks Out
A resident was killed in a Long Island house fire. The blaze broke out just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27 in Bay Shore. Artemio Gonzalez, age 77, had been removed from the house by a family member, a good Samaritan and a Suffolk County PD Third Precinct officer. Gonzalez was transported to South Shore Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said. The family member and a Suffolf County PD Third Precinct officer were transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Someone Set Van On Fire Outside Nassau County Home, Police Seeking Tips
Police are investigating after someone set a van on fire outside a Long Island home. The incident happened in North Valley Stream at a residence on Franklin Avenue shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Nassau County Police said someone poured a flammable liquid on a Ford Econoline van that was parked in a driveway and set the vehicle on fire. The suspect then ran away heading northbound on Franklin Avenue. Firefighters from the Valley Stream Fire Department responded to the home and extinguished the flames. Three adults and a pair of children were taken to a local hospital after a large fire broke out at a residential home. It happened in East Meadow on Tuesday, June 25, according to Nassau County Police. Nassau County Police say detectives were conducting an investigation in Baldwin on Talmadge Drive when they saw smoke emanating from a residence at about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 11.
