The advisory, which takes effect at 4 p.m. Sunday, lasts until 10 a.m. Monday in Putnam and noon Monday in Dutchess.
Sunday will be a mostly cloudy day with the high temperature struggling to hit the freezing mark with wind-chill values between 20 and 25.
The chance for snow begins around 3 p.m. Sunday. There is a 100 percent chance of snow in the evening, according to the National Weather Service, with an accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible in Putnam and 2-4 inches in Dutchess through the overnight hours.
Snow and freezing rain accumulations will create hazardous driving conditions on all untreated surfaces, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain, snow, and freezing rain should become all rain after 9 a.m. Monday in Putnam and after 11 a.m. in Dutchess. An additional inch of accumulation is possible Monday morning in Putnam with 1-2 additional inches possible in Dutchess.
Monday's high will climb to around 43 degrees with rain ending in the early afternoon and skies becoming partly cloudy later in the day.
