A 25-year-old Westchester man is now facing a murder charge after charges were elevated when his mother died in the hospital after he admitted to strangling her unconscious last month.
Daniel Flores Arteaga, of New Rochelle, who had been facing an attempted murder charge, is now charged with second-degree murder, a violent felony, for allegedly strangling his mother, who recently was taken off life support.

A man with a residence in Northern Westchester is behind bars after allegedly being caught on a “nanny cam” attempting to take inappropriate photos of a minor.
John Passaretti, 50, who lives in both West Palm Beach, Florida, and Pleasantville, has been arraigned on charges related in his attempt to take a sexually explicit photo of a child, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., said.

A Northern Westchester man admitted to his role in the fatal soothing of a man last summer.
Peekskill resident Demetrius Bogan, 20, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for killing 22-year-old Khalil Lyons in Peekskill in July, 2018, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced.

A former area resident who went on the run was found guilty of murdering a Westchester man.
Former Yonkers resident Anthony Burton, who most recently lived in Pensacola, Florida, was found guilty of murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon following a trial for the murder of a Yonkers man in April 2016.
