Although winter snowstorms may bring the excitement of sledding for children, a hospital in Northern Westchester is warning families to be careful, as injuries resulting from the activity are all too common. According to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla, sledding down neighborhood hills has sent a whopping 200,000 people to the emergency room over the last 10 years, 70 percent of which were children. 'Big-Hearted, Intelligent, Genuine': School District Remembers Westchester Teen Killed In Crash
A Westchester teen who died after a two-vehicle crash over the weekend is being remembered by his former school district as being a star soccer player and having a big heart. Jason Brand, age 19, of Mount Pleasant, was killed on Sunday, July 10 when a 2021 Honda Pilot driven by a 26-year-old White Plains man, was northbound on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Mount Pleasant and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Cleveland Street, state police said. Staff Member Strikes Student At Westchester School, Police Say
Police were dispatched to a Westchester school campus following a report of a student who was allegedly hit by a staff member. Officers from the North Castle Police Department responded to the Valhalla campus of the Jennie Clarkson Campus in the Greenburgh-North Castle Union Free School District in North White Plains on Tuesday, May 8, following a report from a clinical director who stated that a resident reported that she had been struck by a staff member two days earlier.
