CT State Trooper Dies After Being Swept Away By Floodwaters During Height Of Storm
A Connecticut State Police sergeant who was hospitalized after his vehicle was swept away by floodwaters during Storm Ida has died. The well-respected veteran trooper lost his life early Thursday morning, Sept. 2 as sweeping floodwaters in Litchfield County from the Pomperaug River flooded a road in Woodbury. Hours after Troop L last heard from him, Sergeant Brian Mohl was found by search and rescue teams in the waters of the river, swollen by the torrential rains of Ida. Man Jumps To His Death Off Bridge On I-84
A man is dead after jumping off an I-84 bridge, closing part of the highway. The incident took place around 8 a.m., Thursday, May 9, in Manchester, Connecticut, said a Connecticut State Police spokesperson. Interstate 84 is closed westbound to 1-292 to allow for an investigation, they added. The body was found alongside the highway between Exits 58 and 59. Troopers Asking For Witnesses To Fiery Fatal Crash Off I-84
Police are asking the public for help identifying a vehicle, and the person who was killed during a fiery crash near I-84. The crash took place around 3 a.m., Thursday, April 4, on the Route 72 ramp to I-84 east in Plainville after the driver drove through the guardrail, struck a bridge abutment and the vehicle caught fire, Connecticut State police said. CTDOT officials reported they did not find any structural damage to the bridge hit during the crash.
