Gas-Fed Fire Kitchen Fire Displaces Fairfield County Family Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a kitchen fire at a two-family residence in Fairfield County. The fire started around 6 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, at the home located at 9 Cottage Street in Danbury. Fire and police units were immediately dispatched. Danbury Police Officer Stephan Cameron was on routine patrol in the area and arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke coming from the home, said James Gagliardo, public information spokesman for the department. Red Cross, Danbury Fire Department Partner To Offer Free Smoke Alarms The City of Danbury Fire Department in partnership with the American Red Cross spent their St. Patrick's Day visiting residents to install free smoke alarms as a way to help reduce/eliminate fire-related deaths and injuries. The day-long event included a continental breakfast, provided by Dunkin Donuts and an extraordinary lunch buffet hosted by Taste of South Africa, said Danbury Fire Department Spokesman James Gagliardo.
