New Round Of Storms On Track For Region Amid Scorching Heat: Here's Latest Projected Timing
A brand-new round of severe thunderstorms is on track for the region amid what could be one of the hottest stretches of extreme heat in years. The time frame for the latest storm is on Thursday, July 21 from the mid-afternoon to the early evening, according to the National Weather Service. (See the image above.) Scattered Strong To Severe Thunderstorms Will Sweep Through Region
A cold front will push through the region, bringing isolated strong to severe thunderstorms, the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Outlook statement issued Tuesday morning, Sept. 28. It will be mostly cloudy throughout the day, with a high temperature in the low 70s and a chance for showers and storms. Showers will become likely starting in the mid-afternoon with an increased chance of thunderstorms through early Tuesday evening. New Round Of Scattered Thunderstorms Possible After Severe Weather Results In One Fatality
The remnants of Hurricane Barry brought severe thunderstorms to the region that resulted in torrential downpours causing flooding, damaging winds, downed trees, and one confirmed fatality. The fatality occurred in Fairfield County when a 21-year-old man was killed when a tree limb and wires fell on his car near the border of Fairfield and Bridgeport about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 17.
