School Employee Hospitalized After Explosion At Maintenance Building In Westchester
A 69-year-old man from the Hudson Valley was injured in an explosion inside a school district maintenance building in Westchester that also caused a small fire. The incident happened on Tuesday, Aug. 13 just before 1:20 p.m., when an oil tank explosion was reported at a Mamaroneck School District maintenance building and garage at 119 Gertrude Ave., according to Lt. $12M For Electric School Buses Awarded To 6 Capital Region Districts
A half dozen school districts in the region will receive over $12 million in federal funding to pay for electric school buses. Six districts, located in Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Montgomery, and Warren counties, were awarded nearly $12,080,000 in federal rebate funding through the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new Clean School Bus Program. A school district in the Hudson Valley has just named a longtime educator in the region as its new superintendent. In Ulster County, the Marlboro Board of Education announced that it has appointed Michael Rydell as the district’s new superintendent of schools. 19: Positive Case Reported At School District In Westchester
There has been a new positive COVID-19 case in a Westchester school district. Someone at the William E. Cottle Elementary School in Tuckahoe has tested positive for the virus, Superintendent Amy Goodman wrote in a note to parents. It was not disclosed whether it was a student or staff member who tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, Sept. 11. Goodman said the person who tested positive for the virus is in a state-mandated quarantine and alerted students and staff members who were exposed through contact tracing.

Support and words of comfort are pouring in for the family of the 11-year-old Newburgh girl killed during Tuesday's storm when a tree fell on the SUV in which she was a passenger. The girl’s mother had just parked at their Newburgh home when violent wind gusts toppled a tree and trapped the girl inside, police said.
