21-Year-Old NY College Student Shot To Death; Duo Nabbed In Connection To Case
Police have arrested two suspects accused of gunning down a young college student in New York who was an aspiring pilot. Usman Pirzada, age 21, was shot to death Tuesday, Dec. 19, in Schenectady’s Hamilton Hill neighborhood, according to police. Pirzada was found shortly before 9 p.m. near Lincoln Avenue and Steuben Street suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead hours later, Schenectady Police said. A high school student from the region is recovering after being stabbed by another student during an altercation on campus. The incident happened Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 6, at Schenectady High School, a district spokesperson told Daily Voice. Capital District City Approves Funding For More Officers In Schools
Students will soon see more police officers on campus in Schenectady public schools. The city council approved a controversial agreement between the Schenectady Police Department and the school district Monday, May 9, that will provide up to six officers in schools over the next three years, according to the resolution.
