Hudson Valley Man Arrested For Choking Woman, Sending Her To Hospital
A Hudson Valley man was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing after a physical domestic dispute led to his victim's admission to an area hospital, police said.
Ulster County resident Martin Glien, age 42, of Saugerties, was arrested on Sunday, Dec. 20, the day after officers responded to the scene of the dispute at his home in the Village of Saugerties, according to the Saugerties Police Department.
An order of protection was issued on the victim's behalf by the Village of Saugerties court, and Glien was released on his own recognizance after he was arraigned, police said.&nb…
Police Search For Witnesses After Father, Daughter Killed In Two-Vehicle Crash
Police are searching for anyone who witnessed a car crash in the area that killed a woman and her father.
It happened on Thursday, Dec. 17 at approximately 4:53 p.m. in Ulster County on State Route 32 in the Saxton Flatts area of Saugerties.
Ira Ringel, of Saugerties, 59, and his adopted daughter, 47-year-old Samantha Kiernan, were driving north when their 2001 Toyota Camry slid into a 2011 Toyota Sienna driving the opposite direction in the southbound lane, according to Saugerties Police Chief Joseph Sinagra.

Man Accused Of Throwing Victim Off Hood Of Moving Car In Area, Police Say
A man started a car while a victim was sitting on its hood, driving a short distance then slamming on the brakes so that the woman was thrown and injured, police said.
The Ulster County incident took place on Delaware Street in the Glasco area of Saugerties at approximately 10:18 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 15, according to the Saugerties Police Department.
The perpetrator, 35-year-old Maurice F.D. Sandoval, of Saugerties, fled the scene before the female victim called authorities, according to police.

Woman Pinned Under Live Power Lines Following Crash Into Utility Pole In Area
Residents were without power for more than three hours after a woman slammed into a utility pole in the area.
The crash took place in Ulster County around 8:06 a.m., Friday, Oct. 23, when Tara Benn, 49, of Catskill, slammed into the pole in Saugerties, causing the vehicle to become binned under severed live power lines, said pole.
When officers arrived they found Benn still in the vehicle under the live power lines, said Saugerties Police Chief Joseph A. Sinagra.

Brother Lands Behind Bars After Choking Sister During Domestic Dispute, Police Say
A 40-year-old man landed behind bars without bail after allegedly choking his sister during a domestic dispute.
The incident took place in Ulster County around 11:42 p.m., Sunday, June 28, in Saugerties, Saugerties Police Chief Joseph A. Sinagra, said.
