Tanker Train Derails In Capital Region; Amtrak Service Halted West Of Albany Rail service in the region is disrupted after a freight train derailed, sending several tanker cars off the tracks and shutting down a major highway. The incident happened shortly before 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, in Montgomery County, near Route 5 in Cranesville. At least a half dozen tanker cars came off the tracks, some of them flipping onto their sides, photos shared by the New York State Department of Transportation show.
