When it comes to putting down your roots, these New York locales are among the best in the nation, according to a brand-new ranking.
Four cities in the Empire State made the top 100 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 “Best Places to Live in the US” ranking.
Researchers pulled data from a variety of sources, including thousands of public survey responses, the US Census Bureau, FBI crime statistics, and school and hospital rankings to come up with the top 150 American cities.
Cities were ranked using four key indicators: value, desirability, job market, and quality of life.

A Hudson Valley mother of three has died at the age of 50.
Dutchess County resident Jennifer J. Strang-Thrasher, of Wassaic, died on Sunday, February 4, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Strang-Thrasher, born in Connecticut in the town of Sharon in Litchfield County, was a graduate of Dover High School and Dutchess Community College.
She was a direct care worker at Cardinal Hayes Home for Children in Millbrook, for 30 years, according to her obituary.

Rite Aid Announces 20 NY Stores Slated For Closure After Declaring Bankruptcy
Rite Aid has announced specific store closures just days after the struggling pharmacy chain filed for bankruptcy.
Of the 154 closures nationwide announced on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 20 are in New York, 14 of which are on Long Island.
Rite Aid currently has 2,100 stores and about 45,000 employees.

Man Nabbed Stealing $225K In Goods From Storage Container In Hudson Valley, Police Say
An area 71-year-old has been charged with grand larceny after allegedly stealing more than $225,299 in property from a storage container.
Ulster County resident Anthony Diguiseppe, of Accord, a hamlet of the town of Rochester, was arrested on Sunday, March 19.
On Friday, March 3, State Police began an investigation of stolen property that exceeded $225,229, said Trooper Steve Nevel.
The Investigation revealed that Diguiseppe removed items from a storage container that did not belong to him and moved them to another location, Nevel added.
