Trump, Cuomo Tax Talk At White House Turns To Abortion, Fracking
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo put aside his differences with President Donald Trump on Tuesday to discuss tax reform, abortion and fracking at the White House. The meeting had been scheduled to discuss the $10,000 cap on the federal deduction for state and local taxes (SALT). The governor has previously blamed Trump’s tax legislation for the state’s $2.3 billion revenue drop. "The federal administration's SALT policy is an economic civil war that helps red states at the expense of blue states, and we are now seeing the potentially devastating effect of it in the form of significantly lowe…

Cuomo Aide Says Trump Has Started 'Economic Civil War' After He Tells Upstate NYers To Move Out
President Donald Trump continues to butt heads with New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s camp, this time over a new round of comments the commander-in-chief said about upstate New York. This week, Trump was questioned about initial comments he made in 2017 stating that upstate New York residents should consider a mass exodus out of the state. And Trump quickly doubled downed on them. "If New York isn’t gonna treat them better, I would recommend they go to another state where they can get a great job,” Trump said on Wednesday. “I love those people. Those people are my voters. They’ve been treated ve…

Cuomo Slams Trump For 'His Assault On Abortion Rights'
After seeing his state’s abortion laws singled out during Tuesday’s State of the Union address, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo hit back at President Donald Trump, chastising him in a New York Times op-ed. "Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother's womb moments from birth," Trump said, referencing the Reproductive Health Act, which was signed into law last month. "These are living, feeling, beautiful babies who will never get the chance to share their love and dreams with the world.” The president also called on …

New Protections For Abortion Rights Enacted In New York
Forty-six years after the Roe v. Wade decision, New York is taking steps to protect women’s rights and make sure that historic court decision becomes state law. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed The Reproductive Health Act this week, which “protects women's reproductive rights by ensuring New Yorkers can make personal healthcare decisions and medical professionals can provide crucial services without fear of criminal penalty.” The new legislation comes amid fears that the Supreme Court may overturn Roe v. Wade. "In the face of a federal government intent on rolling back Roe v. Wade and wom…

Video: Joined By Hillary Clinton, Cuomo Calls for Bolstering NY Abortion-, Birth-Control Rights
Flanked by former presidential nominee and fellow Town of New Castle resident Hillary Clinton, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo vowed that the Reproductive Health Act will be passed within the first 30 days of the legislative session, bolstering abortion- and birth-control rights statewide. "A woman's right to make her own decisions regarding her personal health is a fundamental right, yet Washington, with its extreme conservative agenda, continues to threaten the freedoms for which women have fought for decades to attain," Cuomo said during a speech at Barnard College in Manhattan on Monday,…

Pivotal Murphy, Harckham State Senate Battle Gets Heated
The 40th Senate District, which includes parts of Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess counties is considered one of eight "battleground" elections that could tip the balance of political power in Albany. On Tuesday, Nov. 6 voters can choose between incumbent Republican Sen. Terrence Murphy and Democrat Peter Harckham. Murphy of Yorktown was elected to the state Senate in 2014, and is completing his second two-year term. Harckham of South Salem, a former Westchester County legislator, defeated Robert Kesten in the Sept. 13 Democratic Party primary election. Kesten said he supports Harckh…
