19-Year-Old Leads Troopers On Chase Before Crashing In Capital Region, Police Say
A teen driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly leading troopers on a chase before crashing his car in the region. The Washington County incident happened just before 11 p.m. Sunday, May 12, in the town of Easton. New York State Police said troopers attempted to stop a vehicle on State Route 40 for traffic violation when the driver failed to stop, leading to a pursuit. Alert Issued For Missing 16-Year-Old From Capital Region
Police are asking for help in locating a missing teenager from the region. Rensselaer County resident Joni Crowe, age 16, left her residence in Castleton-on-Hudson at around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Schodack Police said the teen, who is considered a vulnerable juvenile, was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, light blue crop top, dark colored sweatpants, and red and black Crocs. A young father was killed and another motorist was hospitalized with serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash in the region. The Rensselaer County wreck happened at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, May 11, on State Route 67 in Pittstown. New York State Police said a disabled vehicle was stopped in the eastbound lane after several people moved it from the shoulder, when a motorcycle heading eastbound crashed into it. A convicted child sex abuser from the region will spend decades in federal prison after confessing that he blackmailed young kids into sending nude images. Rensselaer County resident Zachary Cota, age 31, of Castleton-on-Hudson, pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography in Albany federal court on Friday, May 10. Alert Issued For Capital Region Man Missing 2 Weeks
Police are asking for help in locating a man from the region who has been missing for two weeks. Rensselaer County resident Joseph Viola, of East Greenbush, was last seen at his Rhode Island Avenue residence at around 10:40 p.m. Thursday, April 25. East Greenbush Police are asking anyone who lives in the area to share home surveillance video that may have captured Viola’s movements. Man Sexually Assaults Paramedic At VA Hospital In Capital Region, Feds Say
A man from the region is facing federal charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a paramedic at a Veterans Affairs hospital. Rensselaer County resident Robert Seifert, age 65, of Troy, was arraigned in Albany federal court on Tuesday, April 9. Prosecutors said Seifert grabbed the paramedic’s breast and groin at the Albany Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center. It was not immediately clear when the alleged assault occurred. If convicted, he could spend up to two years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

Talk about a lemon. A man from the region is facing charges after allegedly selling a stolen vehicle to a dealership. Rensselaer County resident Mousse Saiid, age 42, of Troy, was arrested on Friday, April 26, on grand larceny and related charges. New York State Police said a Saratoga County car dealership located in Malta contacted troopers in early April 2024 saying they had purchased a vehicle that turned out to be stolen from New York City in the previous December. Police are asking for tips after a 76-year-old man was beaten to death on a popular biking trail in the region. Emergency crews in Albany County were called shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday, April 18, for an injured walker who was unconscious on the Mohawk Hudson Bike Trail in Menands. 'Outstanding End' After Missing Capital Region 14-Year-Old Located
