Dive teams and first responders, including fire and police, from numerous departments spent hours searching for a man who was seen going underwater at an area lake and not resurfacing. The rescue effort began in Putnam County around 3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27, when members of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Lake Oscawana for a reported drowning near Goose Rock. Morning Fire Destroys Putnam Home
A home under construction in Putnam County was destroyed when a fire broke out early on Friday, Dec. 13. Officials said that a home being built on Canopus Hollow Road went up in flames at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Friday in Putnam Valley. It is unclear what caused the fire, which fully engulfed the frame of the home. Home Catches Fire After Lightning Strike In Putnam
A house struck by lightning in Putnam County during a thunderstorm on Wednesday was saved by firefighters with the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department. The storm, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., sent lighting flying into the side of a home on Old Stone House Road in Putnam Valley, the fire department said on Facebook. Flames burned the side of the house, but firefighters were able to extinguish them within minutes, they added.
