In preparation for the Patterson bridge-replacement project, the MTA Metro-North Railroad is advising customers that crews will continue to work on the track-surfacing of the Upper Harlem Line between Wassaic and Southeast from Tuesday, April 23, through Thursday, April 25. 10 Dutchess Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops Nearly two dozen motorists were removed from the roadway by New York State Police troopers recently for alleged impaired drivers. Local residents charged:  Dutchess County On Friday, April 12, State Police from Poughkeepsie arrested Sharon Y. Eady, 52, of Poughkeepsie, for Aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, a felony. She was traveling on Church Street in Poughkeepsie, when she was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law. Using data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com compiled the municipalities with the most “super commuters,” a number which has risen 31.7 percent since 2005. According to the report, researchers used "mean travel time to work" data from the U.S. Census, NewYorkUpstate.com ranked the top 50 upstate New York towns, cities and villages where residents have the longest commutes. A Daily Voice reader sent in a photograph of a bear he saw in Brewster. This bear was spotted off Route 22 on Monday, March 25. Family Pets Killed In Beekman House Fire A family lost several pets after a fire ravaged a Beekman home while nobody was home. The fire began around 6 p.m. Monday, March 4, at 65 Pleasant Ridge Road, said Beekman Fire Chief Greg Rayburn. Rayburn said the dogs and cats perished, most likely from smoke inhalation, the chief said. He was not sure of the number of animals.
