Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson Dies

Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian "Butch" Anderson, who has led the department for more than 20 years, has died.
Anderson, age 73, of Pawling, died in his sleep on Wednesday, Sept. 29, according to officials.
Anderson, who started his career with the Sheriff’s Office on Dec. 1, 1970, as a deputy sheriff worked his way up the ladder and was elected sheriff in 1999 and took office in January 2000.

Nearly Two Dozen Charged With Impaired Driving During Dutchess Detail
Authorities in Dutchess County have just announced the results of a special multi-agency holiday DWI detail in Dutchess County.
Between Friday, July 2, and Monday, July 5, law enforcement agencies in Dutchess conducted impaired driving details that included saturation of patrols throughout the county in addition to their regular patrols, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office announced on Wednesday, July 14.
In total, 21 motorists were busted for impaired driving.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Dutchess is getting closer to 1,000 as the death toll in the county rose slightly in the past week as the county recovers from the second surge of the virus.
Dutchess health officials were monitoring 1,080 active COVID-19 cases on Friday, March 5, down from 1,177 last week, but up from approximately 800 in late February.
According to the Department of Health, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Dutchess has reached 22,678 out of nearly 550,000 tests that have been administered countywide.

There are now less than 1,000 active COVID-19 cases in Dutchess as the county continues to see a decline in the spread of the virus.
Health officials are now monitoring 819 active cases as of Thursday, Feb. 18, down from more than 1,000 as recently as Friday, Feb. 11.
According to the Department of Health, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Dutchess has reached 21,131 out of more than 500,000 tests that have been administered countywide.
