The light at the end of the COVID tunnel is rapidly approaching in New York as the state gears up to lift most restrictions that were put in place during the pandemic. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday, June 7 that once 70 percent of New Yorkers are vaccinated, the state will be removing the majority of its mandates as the country returns to a sense of normalcy after 16 months. A country club has had its liquor license suspended after hosting what New York State authorities described as a COVID-19 "super-spreader event." A wedding attended by 113 guests was held on Long Island at the North Fork Country Club, located in Cutchogue in Suffolk County, on Saturday, Oct. 17, violating pandemic-related gathering restrictions. A date has been set for ski resorts in New York to open amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Those resorts were cleared on Sunday, Oct. 18 to operate at 50 percent indoor capacity and with strict health and safety protocols under state-issued guidance starting Friday, Nov. 6.
