Road Reopens After Large Oil Spill On Stretch Of Busy Hudson Valley Route
This story has been updated. A stretch of a busy Hudson Valley road was temporarily closed to traffic following a crash that resulted in a large oil spill, police said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, May 15, when a crash occurred on Route 6 in Mahopac between Crane and Washington Roads, Carmel Police announced around 12:15 p.m. The crash caused a large oil spill that had to be cleaned up by hazmat teams and area fire departments. 3-Car Crash Spills Oil In Northern Westchester Neighborhood
Firefighters had to clean up an oil spill in a Northern Westchester neighborhood following a crash that involved three cars. The crash happened on Saturday, March 4 around 10:15 p.m. in Croton-on-Hudson on Benedict Boulevard. One driver was injured but declined medical treatment, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. Updated story: Westchester Crash That Snarled Traffic During Morning Commute Involved 23 Vehicles, Police Say State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash caused by an oil spill in Westchester. Photos: Oil Spill Reaches Lake Mahopac
More than 200 gallons of oil flowed down a hill, spilled into Lake Mahopac and had to be cleaned up by first responders. The oil spill was reported on Mount Hope Road in Mahopac at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, prompting a heavy response by multiple emergency agencies. Oil Truck Crashes Down Embankment, Causing Fuel Leak In Area
An oil tanker crashed down an embankment, causing a fuel leak that firefighters are still busy soaking up. The crash took place around 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 1, in Putnam Valley on Hollowbrook Road, officials said. The driver was not injured, but firefighters with the Putnam Valley Department are using absorbent pads to stop the oil from leaking into the nearby Hollow Brook, the department said.
