Hudson Valley Man Admits Stalking, Beating Ex-Girlfriend, DA Says
A Hudson Valley man has pleaded guilty to stalking and criminal contempt on the first day a jury trial was set to begin.
Orange County resident Raymond Brown Jr., age 50, of Newburgh, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Ulster County Court.
According to the Ulster County District Attorney's Office, the indictment charged Brown with repeated and numerous threatening text messages he sent to the victim, a former girlfriend.

A Hudson Valley man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for severely beating a man who owed him money and breaking his jaw during the attack.
Orange County resident Michael Cowan, age 37, of Newburgh, was sentenced on Monday, Aug. 21 following a jury trial where he was found guilty, said Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler.
During the trial, prosecutors argued that on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 9:30 p.m., outside of a home on Hidden Creek Boulevard, in the Village of Monroe, Cowan severely beat the man who lived in that residence.

Hudson Valley Man Charged After Breaking Into Business, Sniffed Out By K-9 Durak
A Hudson Valley man was apprehended hiding inside a business after he allegedly attempted to break into another business.
Orange County resident Samuel Espada, age 44, of Harriman, was arrested on Monday, Aug. 21 in the town of Newburgh.
According to Lt. Peter Talarico of the Town of Newburgh Police, said officers were dispatched to a criminal mischief call at State Farm Insurance on Route 17K around 830 a.m.
