30-Year-Old Found Dead At Hudson Valley Hotel, Police Say
Police are investigating after a 30-year-old man was found dead inside an area hotel. The discovery was made around 7 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, in Dutchess County, authorities said. Officers responded to The Inn at Hyde Park, at 4171 Albany Post Road, for a report of a man who was unconscious and not breathing. Officers found the unconscious man, and Northern Dutchess paramedics and the Hyde Park Fire Department arrived and attempted life-saving measures but were unable to revive the man, according to Hyde Park Police Chief Robert Benson. An Orange County man has been sentenced to 21 years to life in prison in connection with the stabbing death of an employee at an emergency housing facility. Wilfredo Mercado, 53, of Newburgh, was sentenced by Orange County Court Judge Craig Stephen Brown on Thursday, Feb. 21, for the May 2017, stabbing death the man inside a temporary emergency housing facility in the City of Newburgh, said the Orange County District Attorney's Office. Two Killed, One Injured In Overnight Shooting In Hudson Valley
Two men were killed and another injured in an overnight shooting in Newburgh. The incident occurred late in the evening Saturday along Liberty Street in the areas of Gidney Avenue and Clinton Street, said Det. Lt. Joseph Burns of the City of Newburgh Police Department.
