A former public works employee has been sentenced for his role in a hit-run crash that killed a beloved 16-year-old boy in Westchester. A Westchester public works employee who allegedly was intoxicated when he hit and killed a popular 16-year-old high school student riding a scooter has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash. A public works employee has been charged with a hit-and-crash that left a popular 16-year-old area student dead. The crash took place in Westchester around 12:20 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 in the 600 block of McLean Avenue in Yonkers. Officials have broken ground at a new Westchester school named for a groundbreaking Supreme Court justice. In Yonkers, construction has begun on a new school named in honor of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, a Bronx native who is the first Latina to sit on the bench.
