ID Released For NY Woman Among 3 Killed In Washington State Avalanche
A 60-year-old New York woman who was among three climbers killed in an avalanche in Washington State has now been identified. The incident happened Sunday afternoon, Feb. 19, in the central Cascade Mountains near Colchuck Lake, located 70 miles east of Seattle, according to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office. New York City resident Jeannie Lee, of Bayside, Queens, was confirmed as being among the dead. Recall Issued For Brand Of Mushrooms Due To Possible Health Risk
A Brooklyn-based company is recalling Enoki mushrooms that were imported from Korea which may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The FDA announced that H&C Food Inc. is recalling 7.05-ounce Enoki mushrooms that were important from Green Co. and distributed to supermarkets in New York, Maryland, and Virginia. The mushrooms subject to recall were distributed between Saturday, Feb. 15 and Thursday, March 5. According to the FDA, the mushrooms were sold in a clear plastic packaging with a green label, UPC code of 831211204181, and “H&C Food Inc.” on the back of the package. …

In an effort to end the "puppy mill pipeline," New York has banned pet stores from selling dogs, cats, and rabbits. The legislation, which was signed into law on Thursday, Dec. 15, will prohibit the sale of these animals in pet stores across the state and instead encourage them to make space available to show pets up for adoption, according to Assemblymember Linda B. A man accused of bilking a New York homebuyer out of tens of thousands of dollars through an email scam has been nabbed by police. Maryland resident Emeka Ndukwu, age 50, of Lanham in Prince George's County, was arraigned on Long Island on Saturday, Oct. 1, on a felony charge of grand larceny in Nassau County Court..
