Hudson Valley Man Caught Spray Painting American/Israeli Flag, Police Say A Hudson Valley man was caught in the act of allegedly defacing a joint American/Israeli flag with spray paint, police said. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the Monsey area of Ramapo. According to Lt. Chris Franklin of the Ramapo Police, a patrol officer spotted the man wearing a face mask while walking on Main Street in Monsey. He watched as the man, identified as Benzion Rivlin, age 33, of Monsey, approached a joint American and Israeli flag on the property of a business located at 45 Main St., Franklin said. Israeli Flag Defaced At Hudson Valley Service Center, Police Investigating For the second time in two weeks, an Israeli flag has been the target of vandals at a Hudson Valley service station. The incident occurred in Rockland County early Friday, May 24, at the Monsey Service Center on Main Street in Monsey. According to Lauren Pepper, the manager of the center and daughter of the owner, Joe Kurek, another flag was stolen on Friday, May 17. Following last week’s snowstorm, more than a foot of snow piled up on some sidewalks in Monsey, making it more difficult to travel by foot. On Friday, Dec. 18, Lipa Rubin was stopped on Main Street near Orchard Street to allow two children to be dismissed from a school bus, one of whom struggled climbing a snowbank to get to the sidewalk as the bus drove off and traffic began flowing again.
